Petrobras starts production of PTA at Pernambuco complex

Petrobras has started production of purified terephthalic acid (PTA) at its Pernambuco, Brazil, complex, the company announced. The plant is Brazil's only operating PTA facility. The site is formed by Petrobras's Petroquímica Suape and Companhia Integrada Têxtil de Pernambuco subsidiaries. The PTA plant has a nominal capacity of 640,000 m.t./year. The product will be destined for the domestic market, which has until now been entirely supplied by imports, the company says.
