Oxiteno reports higher earnings and sales

Oxiteno, the chemicals business of Ultrapar (São Paulo), posted a 47% increase in Ebitda for the fourth quarter of 2013, compared with the corresponding quarter of 2012, to 107 million reais, on sales up 10%, to R$835 million. The Ebitda and sales hikes reflect an 11% weaker Brazilian currency and a more favorable sales mix, which were partially offset by lower sales volumes and increased costs and expenses, partly related to the start-up of operations in the United States and Uruguay.
