Lanxess opens high-tech plastics plant in Brazil

Lanxess's Porto Feliz site. Lanxess says it has opened its previously announced, new, high-tech plastics plant at the company’s site at Porto Feliz, Brazil. Lanxess has invested about €20 million ($28 million) in the facility, which will have an initial production capacity of 20,000 m.t./year. The plant employs about 50 people. In the new compounding plant, the basic polymers nylon and polybutylene terephthalate are mixed and refined with special additives and glass fiber, to make the high-tech plastic product lines Durethan and Pocan.
