Evonik starts basic engineering for silica site in Brazil, continues to expand global silica capacity

Evonik has started basic engineering for a production plant for precipitated silica in Brazil and expects to complete the plant by 2015, subject to approval from respective bodies and authorities, Evonik announced today. The planned facility, located at Americana, in the state of São Paolo, with an investment level in the middle double-digit million-euro range, would be Evonik’s first silica production in South America, the company says.
