ETH, Amyris Plan Renewable Farnesene Joint Venture

Synthetic biology firm Amyris (Emeryville, CA) says it has signed an agreement with Brazilian ethanol producer ETH Bioenergia (São Paulo) to form a joint venture for the development of renewable farnesene. The parties expect to begin production in 2014. The agreement gives Amyris access to up to two million tons/year of sugarcane crush capacity from one of ETH’s greenfield mills in Brazil.
