Brazil's chemical trade deficit reached $14.9 billion during the first half of 2013, according to Abiquim (São Paulo), the country's chemical industry association. Chemical imports during the first half reached $22 billion, 13.4% higher than in the first half of last year. At $7 billion, Brazilian exports of chemical products during the same period were 5.1% lower than in the first six months of 2012.
