Braskem's Ebitda grows 12% during the second quarter

Braskem reported a 12% increase in second-quarter 2013 Ebitda, to 1.05 billion Reais ($506 million). Net income and sales figures were not available at press time. The Ebitda increase was driven partly by higher sales volumes and a better operating performance, Braskem says. Sales volumes were 947,000 m.t. during the second quarter, up 3%. The average capacity utilization of Braskem's steam crackers was 94%, increasing 4 percentage points from the first quarter this year, due to an improvement in operating efficiency, Braskem says.
