Regions :: South America :: Brazil Braskem to Buy Sunoco’s Polypropylene Business6:12 PM MST | February 15, 2010 | LINDSEY BEWLEY Brazilian polyolefins producer Braskem (São Paulo) says it will buy Sunoco Chemicals’ polypropylene (PP) business for about $350 million in cash. The sale includes Sunoco’s PP manufacturing facilities in Marcus Hook, PA, La Porte, TX, and Neal, WV. The three sites have a combined capacity to produce about 953,000 m.t./year of PP, or about 13% of U.S. production capacity, the company says. The sale also includes Sunoco’s polymer research and technology Center at Pittsburgh, PA. The sale is expected to close by the end of the first quarter...
