Braskem to Buy Sunoco’s Polypropylene Business

Brazilian polyolefins producer Braskem (São Paulo) says it will buy Sunoco Chemicals’ polypropylene (PP) business for about $350 million in cash. The sale includes Sunoco’s PP manufacturing facilities in Marcus Hook, PA, La Porte, TX, and Neal, WV. The three sites have a combined capacity to produce about 953,000 m.t./year of PP, or about 13% of U.S. production capacity, the company says.
