Braskem Ebitda rises as domestic market share expands

Braskem today reported a net profit of 394 million Brazilian reais ($172.2 million), compared with a loss of 124 million real in the year-ago quarter. Net revenue totaled 10.7 billion reais, up 12% year-on-year (YOY) from the year-ago quarter. In US dollars, net revenues were up 2%, to $4.7 billion, due to an 11% appreciation in the US dollar versus the Brazilian real. Braskem’s consolidated Ebitda was up 57%, to 1.65 billion reais, the company says. Ebitda rose due to better spreads for resins and petrochemicals on the international market, lower feedstock...
