The company has signed a memorandum of understanding with Braskem, which will secure long-term supply of propylene feedstock as well as provision of utilities by Braskem to BASF. BASF says it is conducting a feasibility study to evaluate the technical, commercial and economic viability of operating a 160,000-m.t./year acrylic acid unit and derivatives plants in Brazil.
