SQM Reports Fourth-Quarter Earnings up 33%

Sociedad Química y Minera de Chile (SQM) reported fourth quarter earnings of $158.9 million, up 33% from the year-ago quarter, on sales  up about 7%, to $538.9 million. Earnings per share were 60 cts compared with 40 cts/share in the year-ago quarter. Full year 2011 net income was up 42.8%, to $545.8 million, on sales up 17%, to $2.15 billion.
