DIC buys out partner in Colombian printing inks manufacturing JV

DIC (Tokyo) says that its wholly owned subsidiary Sun Chemical (Parsippany, NJ) has become the sole owner of Tintas (Medellín, Colombia), a manufacturer of printing inks, by purchasing the shares it did not own in Tintas from the joint venture partner Inversiones Mundial (Medellín), a coatings and chemicals firm. Sun acquired Coates Lorilleux in 1999 and, as a result, became a joint venture partner in Tintas, in which Coates Lorilleux had a 50% stake.
