Taiwan scraps plans for Kuokuang petchems project in Malaysia

Sources in Taipei have confirmed to CW that plans to relocate a petrochemical project from Taiwan to Malaysia have been scrapped. CPC Corp. (Taipei) last year said that Kuokuang Petrochemical, an affiliate in which CPC held 43% and other Taiwanese players including Far Eastern Group and Chang Chun Group had the rest, was in talks with the Malaysian authorities to invest in Malaysia, next to the planned Rapid complex at Pengerang in Johor state, near Singapore.   Sources tell CW that Malaysian authorities have asked the investors to pay the first part of the...
