Kraton and Formosa Form HSBC Joint Venture

Kraton Polymers and Formosa Petrochemical say they will form a 50/50 joint venture to construct and operate a 30,000 m.t./year hydrogenated styrenic block copolymer (HSBC) plant at Mailiao, Taiwan. The companies say the plant will cost about $165 million to $200 million and is expect the unit to come onstream in the second half of 2013. “In response to growth in global demand for our differentiated grades of HSBCs, we have been evaluating alternatives for additional capacity that would employ Kraton's technology for producing HSBCs,”...
