Formosa Shuts Taiwan Cracker

Formosa says it will keep its No. 3 naphtha cracker in Mailiao, Taiwan closed due to weak Asian demand. The plant was originally shuttered for a 45-day turnaround and was set to restart October 19, but was later delayed to October 25. The plant will remain closed indefinitely, as there are rising stockpiles of ethylene and propylene due to weak demand, Formosa says.
