Formosa Increases Operating Rate of Ethylene Units

Formosa Petrochemical (Mailiao, Taiwan) has increased the operating rate of its No.2 and No.3 ethylene plants at Mailiao, due to an increase in demand, say reports. The company increased the operating rate of the two plants to 90%-95%, from 80%-85%.   Formosa Petrochemical however shut its No.1 700,000-m.t./year ethylene unit on January 6, which is expected to remain idle for an indefinite period. The company plans to cut costs by keeping the No.1 unit shut and increasing operating rates of its No.2 and No.3...
