World's First HPPO Plant Starts Up in Korea

SKC Chemicals Group (Seoul) says it has begun production of propylene oxide (PO) at its Ulsan, Korea complex. The 100,000 m.t./year facility is the world's first commercial scale plant to use the novel hydrogen peroxide-to-propylene oxide (HPPO) technology developed by Evonik Industries and Uhde. The new plant is being supplied with hydrogen peroxide by Evonik Headwaters' plant based in Ulsan, which was recently doubled in size to about 68,000 m.t./year.
