Mitsui Chemicals-Lotte Chemical JV opens polypropylene catalyst plant in Korea

Mitsui Chemicals says that Lotte Mitsui Chemicals (Yosu, South Korea), a 50-50 joint venture with Lotte Chemical (Seoul), started up a previously announced polypropylene (PP) catalyst plant at Yosu on 1 April. Plans for the jv project were first announced in 2010. The jv uses Mitsui’s PP catalyst manufacturing technology. Construction on the jv plant began in December 2011 and was completed in November 2012, and commercial operation at the plant began earlier this month, Mitsui says.
