Mitsubishi Rayon to Quit Acrylic Filament Yarn Business

Mitsubishi Rayon says it will withdraw from the Silpalon acrylic filament yarn business operated by its Mitsubishi Rayon Textile subsidiary. Demand for the product, which offers differentiated "rich luster" similar to silk and which has been used in the manufacture of sweaters, has been in decline in Japan, the company says. The share of the market for imported sweaters into Japan currently exceed 95%.
