BASF to Close Korean BDO and THF Complex

BASF says it will make permanent the closure of its 1,4-butanediol (BDO) and tetrahydrofuran (THF) manufacturing complex at Ulsan, Korea. The complex has been temporarily closed since August 2008. BASF’s downstream polyTHF plant at Ulsan will continue to operate using feedstock supplied from BASF’s global network. The BDO-THF complex employs 27, about 3% of BASF’s workforce in Korea.
