Regions :: North Asia :: Korea BASF to Close Korean BDO and THF Complex11:26 AM MST | January 16, 2009 BASF says it will make permanent the closure of its 1,4-butanediol (BDO) and tetrahydrofuran (THF) manufacturing complex at Ulsan, Korea. The complex has been temporarily closed since August 2008. BASF’s downstream polyTHF plant at Ulsan will continue to operate using feedstock supplied from BASF’s global network. The BDO-THF complex employs 27, about 3% of BASF’s workforce in Korea. Some THF will be supplied from BASF’s Caojing, China complex, which uses a new BASF technology.
