Ube closes caprolactam facility in Japan

Ube Industries says that, as previously announced, it permanently stopped production of caprolactam and related derivative products at the company’s production complex at Sakai, Osaka Prefecture, Japan, by 31 March. Growth in demand for caprolactam weakened with the economic downturn, and the entries of new manufacturers and expansions by existing manufacturers, mainly in China, has heavily eroded Ube's market share, the company says.
