Sales increased 6%, to ¥311.6 billion Ube’s chemicals and plastics segment posted an 18.5% increase in first-half sales compared with the year-ago period, to ¥115.2 billion. And operating profits for the segment more than doubled, to ¥13.7 billion. Sales of caprolactam were high due to strong demand in the Asian market, and the margins increased substantially compared...
