Ube Reports Rise in Profits and Sales

Ube Industries reported a 59% increase in net profits for the fiscal first half ended September 30, 2011, compared with the year-ago period, to ¥12.1 billion ($155 million). Sales increased 6%, to ¥311.6 billion Ube’s chemicals and plastics segment posted an 18.5% increase in first-half sales compared with the year-ago period, to ¥115.2 billion.
