Ube Reports Rise in Profits and Sales

Ube Industries’ net profits for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2011 more than doubled compared with the previous fiscal year, to ¥17.2 billion ($213 million). Sales increased 12%, to ¥616 billion Ube’s chemicals and plastics segment reported a 24% rise in sales, to ¥204.5 billion, and the segment recorded more than a four fold rise in operating profits, to ¥20 billion.
