Regions :: North Asia :: Japan Tosoh Reports Rise in Profits and Sales5:48 AM MST | February 20, 2012 | Deepti Ramesh Tosoh has recorded a 5.6% increase in net profits for the fiscal first nine months ended December 31, 2011, compared with the year-ago period, to ¥7 billion ($88 million). Sales increased 5.9%, to ¥525 billion. Tosoh, however, says it faced extremely harsh operating conditions during the nine-month period. The Japanese economy remained weak despite strong demand from recovery projects following the March 2011 earthquake in Japan, and there was a slowing of the global economy partly because of the European sovereign debt crisis, Tosoh says.
