Regions :: North Asia :: Japan Toray to Invest $550 Million to Increase Carbon Fiber Capacity at Four Sites12:04 AM MST | March 9, 2012 | Deepti Ramesh Toray Industries says it will invest a total of ¥45 billion ($550 million) to increase its production capacity for carbon fibers at four production sites in France, Japan, Korea and the U.S. With this investment, Toray will increase its total production capacity for carbon fibers by 6,000 m.t./year. Production at the four expanded sites is expected to start in 2014 and 2015. Toray currently has a total carbon fiber production capacity of 17,900 m.t./year, and this will increase to 21,100 m.t./year by January 2013, when two previously announced projects come...
