Toray reports rise in profits and sales

Toray Industries reports an 11% rise in net profits for the company’s fiscal first quarter ended 30 June 2014, compared with the year-ago period, to ¥14.71 billion ($144 million). First-quarter sales increased 11.4%, to ¥448.62 billion. During the April-June quarter, while economic expansion in China remained slow and the economy of the Asean region remained stagnant, the US economy maintained its recovery and Europe as a whole picked up steadily, Toray says. Japan continued in its modest recovery track on the back of improving corporate earnings...
