Tokuyama to Invest $1.24 Billion to Build Second Polysilicon Plant in Malaysia

Tokuyama (Tokyo) says it has decided to build an additional polysilicon plant at the Samalaju Industrial Park in the state of Sarawak, Malaysia. The second plant will have the capacity to produce 13,800 m.t./year of polysilicon for solar cells. The project is expected to involve an investment of about ¥100 billion ($1.24 billion). Construction will begin in April 2012, and the plant is expected to become operational in January 2015.
