Tokuyama to Exit Precipitated Silica Business

Tokuyama (Tokyo) says it has decided to exit the precipitated silica business by February 29, 2012. Tokuyama says it discontinued production of its Tokusil and Finesil brands of precipitated silica at the Tokuyama Factory at Shunan, Japan, in March 2010. Tokuyama has been selling precipitated silica by receiving supplies of these products from its Tokuyama Siam Silica Co. (TSSC; Bangkok) subsidiary, and Oriental Silicas Corp.
