Tokuyama says it discontinued production of its Tokusil and Finesil brands of precipitated silica at the Tokuyama Factory at Shunan, Japan, in March 2010. Tokuyama has been selling precipitated silica by receiving supplies of these products from its Tokuyama Siam Silica Co. (TSSC; Bangkok) subsidiary, and Oriental Silicas Corp. (OSC; Sanyi, Taiwan) affiliate. The operating environment in the precipitated silica business remains severe due to soaring raw material...
