Tokuyama swings to profit

Tokuyama (Tokyo) has recorded a net profit of ¥2.02 billion ($20.6 million) for the fiscal first quarter, ended 30 June, compared with a net loss of ¥1.78 billion in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year. First-quarter sales increased by about 0.7%, to ¥64.36 billion. Sales increased, despite lower sales volume for polysilicon products, largely because of an increase in sales volume for products such as vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) and higher selling prices for petrochemical products, Tokuyama says.
