Tokuyama swings to profit; upgrades earnings, sales projections

Tokuyama (Tokyo) reports a net profit of ¥7.49 billion ($73 million) for the fiscal first nine months, ended 31 December 2013, compared with a net loss of ¥10.84 billion in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year. Nine-month sales increased about 10%, to ¥207.9 billion. Sales increased despite lower sales volume for polysilicon products and largely because of an increase in sales volume for products such as vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) and higher selling prices for petrochemical products, Tokuyama says.
