Regions :: North Asia :: Japan Sumitomo Builds Plant to Manufacture Resorcinol11:25 AM MDT | June 2, 2008 | Chemical Week Editorial Staff Sumitomo Chemical says it plans to build a 10,000-m.t./year production facility for resorcinol, an intermediate mainly used in adhesives for automobile tires, at Oita, Japan. Construction of the plant is expected to be completed by February 2010. The new capacity will make Sumitomo the world’s largest manufacturer of resorcinol with a total production capacity of 30,000 m.t./year. Worldwide demand for resorcinol is expected to increase, especially in China and other markets in Asia, with the rapid expansion of automobile...
