Showa Denko’s chemicals and petrochemicals businesses report higher earnings, sales

Showa Denko reports a 3.2% fall in net profits for the full fiscal year, ended 31 December 2013, compared with 2012, to ¥9.06 billion ($89 million). Full-year sales increased 14.6%, to ¥848.1 billion, mainly because of higher sales in the company's petrochemicals segment, Showa Denko says. Showa Denko’s petrochemicals segment reports a 50.2% rise in full-year sales compared with 2012, to ¥286.7 billion, and an operating profit of ¥4.39 billion compared with an operating loss of ¥977 million in 2012.
