Regions :: North Asia :: Japan Showa Denko to Expand Capacity for Materials Used in Lithium-Ion Rechargeable Batteries2:57 AM MDT | July 20, 2011 | Deepti Ramesh Showa Denko says it will expand its production capacities for materials used in lithium-ion rechargeable batteries (LIBs), namely, the SCMG artificial-graphite-based anode material, the VGCF additive in anodes and cathodes, and aluminum laminated films for packaging. Showa Denko will expand the capacity of its SCMG plant at Omachi, Nagano Prefecture, Japan in stages from 1,000 m.t./year to 3,000 m.t./year by the middle of 2012 through debottlenecking of processes.
