Regions :: North Asia :: Japan Mitsubishi Rayon to Build Methacrylic Acid Facility in U.S.12:35 AM MDT | April 4, 2011 | Deepti Ramesh Mitsubishi Rayon says its wholly owned subsidiary Lucite International (Southampton, U.K.) will construct a new plant for the manufacture of methacrylic acid (MAA) at Lucite’s manufacturing site at Beaumont, TX. Lucite will invest about $36 million to construct the new plant, which will have a capacity to produce 23,000 m.t./year of MAA. Construction of the plant is tentatively scheduled to begin in July 2011, and the plant is expected to begin production in the fourth quarter of 2012.
