Regions :: North Asia :: Japan Mitsubishi Chemical to Build Plant for Formulated Electrolyte for Lithium-Ion Batteries in China9:42 AM MDT | October 6, 2011 | Deepti Ramesh Mitsubishi Chemical will invest about ¥2.5 billion ($33 million) to establish an operation in China to manufacture and sell formulated electrolyte for lithium-ion batteries. The plant will be located at Changshu, Jiangsu Province, China, and it will produce 10,000 m.t./year of formulated electrolyte, and it is expected to begin production by the end of 2012. Battery production in China is expected to grow rapidly, both for consumer electronics and for emerging automotive applications, Mitsubishi Chemical says.
