Regions :: North Asia :: Japan Marubeni and Braskem Sign Deal for Butadiene1:01 PM MDT | May 12, 2011 | Deepti Ramesh Marubeni (Tokyo) says it has entered into a long-term purchase agreement with Braskem for butadiene. This long-term contract is valued at about $550 million, Marubeni says. Braskem is proceeding with a project for additional production capacity of butadiene in Brazil, and construction of this plant will be completed in 2012, Marubeni says. Marubeni will handle the sales of butadiene produced by Braskem. Butadiene is used for the production of synthetic rubber for automobile tires and other rubber products.
