Kuraray reports rise in profits and sales

Kuraray reports an 11.1% rise in net profits for the quarter ended 30 June compared with the year-ago period, to ¥7.28 billion ($71 million). Sales in the quarter increased 12.9%, to ¥105.19 billion. The company says it has now changed its fiscal year-end from 31 March to 31 December. During the April–June quarter, the company's operating environment was not affected by Japan's consumption tax hike in starting April, Kuraray says.
