Kaneka records rise in profits

Kaneka (Osaka) recorded a 72.6% rise in net profits for its fiscal year ended 31 March compared with the previous fiscal year, to ¥9.32 billion ($91 million). Full-year sales increased 1.5%, to ¥476.4 billion. During the fiscal year, the global economy saw broader signs of a slowdown, mainly due to the protracted weakness in the European economy along with slower growth in China, India, and other emerging markets, Kaneka says.
