Regions :: North Asia :: Japan JX Nippon Oil & Energy Restarts Cracker11:42 AM MDT | March 29, 2011 | Ian Young JX Nippon Oil & Energy (Tokyo) says it has restarted its naphtha cracker at Kawasaki, Japan, which was taken offstream following the earthquake and tsunami on March 11. The cracker has capacity for 460,000 m.t./year of ethylene. Three other crackers remain offline in Japan following the disaster. Maruzen Petrochemical says it is preparing to restart its 520,000-m.t./year Chiba cracker, and market sources say the plant may resume operations in mid-April.
