Idemitsu Kosan’s petrochemical business reports rise in profits and sales

The petrochemical business segment of Idemitsu Kosan reported a 34% rise in operating profits for the fiscal year ended 31 March 2013, compared with the previous fiscal year, to ¥17.1 billion ($176 million). Full-year sales for the petrochemical segment increased 4%, to ¥528.4 billion, mainly because market prices were favorable in the second half of the fiscal year, but sales volume declined due partly to sluggish demand from China, Idemitsu says.
