(Kawasaki, Japan), in which ExxonMobil Yugen Kaisha, an ExxonMobil subsidiary, holds a 50% stake, will expand the capacity of its halobutyl rubber manufacturing plant at Kashima, Japan by 10,000 m.t./year to 80,000 m.t./year. The expansion is expected to be completed in 2012. This is the second capacity expansion in five years at the Kashima halobutyl rubber plant. “Demand for halobutyl rubber is expected to grow at about 6%/year, mainly in the Asia/Pacific region,” says John Lyon, v.p./butyl polymers at...
