DIC reports fall in profits, sales

DIC Corp. (Tokyo) recorded an 8.7% fall in net profits for its fiscal first half, ended 30 September, 2012, compared with the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year, to ¥11.4 billion ($143 million). First-half sales decreased 7.7%, to ¥349.8 billion. Despite the global economic slowdown, triggered by the European sovereign debt crisis, as well as flagging economic growth in Asia and other factors—all of which impeded domestic and overseas demand—signs of a gradual improvement in the economic environment were seen in the first quarter...
