Cargill Acquires Teijin’s 50% Stake in NatureWorks

Teijin says it has transferred its 50% ownership in NatureWorks (Minnetonka, MN) to Cargill and has terminated the NatureWorks joint venture contract with Cargill as of June 30. NatureWorks, a 50-50 jv between Cargill and Teijin that produces biobased plastics and resins, is now an independent company wholly owned by Cargill. Teijin says it is restructuring its business portfolio in response to the global economic downturn.
