Asahi Kasei reports huge rise in profits

Asahi Kasei reports an 88.6% rise in net profits for the fiscal year ended 31 March 2014 compared with the previous fiscal year, to ¥101.2 billion ($996 million). Full-year sales increased 13.9%, to ¥1.89 trillion, because of a good performance in the company’s homes segment, the pharmaceutical operations within the health-care segment, and the recovery in the company's chemicals and electronics segments due to improvement in exports, Asahi says.
