Asahi Kasei Acquires U.S. Ultraviolet LED Manufacturer

Asahi Kasei says it has acquired Crystal IS (Green Island, NY), a leading manufacturer of ultraviolet light emitting diodes (UV LEDs) using high-quality aluminum nitride substrates. A share purchase agreement was signed on December 28, 2011, and Crystal IS is now a wholly owned subsidiary of Asahi Kasei. Crystal IS employs 25 people.
