Tosoh reports rise in profits

Tosoh recorded a 79.8% rise in net profits for its fiscal year ended 31 March compared with the previous fiscal year, to ¥16.9 billion ($166 million). Full-year sales decreased 2.7%, however, to ¥668.5 billion, because of falling demand for the company’s products because of the weak Japanese economy and product shortages because of the accident at the No. 2 vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) plant in the company’s Nanyo complex at Shunan, Japan.
