Nine-month sales decreased by 8.4%, to ¥1 trillion, mainly because of a ¥62.0-billion decrease in sales in the company’s basic chemicals segment as a consequence of an explosion at the company’s Iwakuni-Ohtake production complex at Waki, Japan.
