Sinopec's ethylene output increases 5%

Sinopec says that it produced 5.1 million m.t. of ethylene in the first half of 2014, 5% more compared with the corresponding period of last year. The company's production of plastics increased 3.5% year-on-year (YOY) in the first half, to almost 7 million m.t., and its output of synthetic rubber increased 5.7% YOY, to 483,000 m.t. However, Sinopec produced 646,000 m.t. of synthetic fibers in the first half, down 7.6% YOY.  Sinopec has not provided reasons for the changes in production levels.
