Westlake starts up Geismar chlor-alkali plant

Westlake Chemical says that it has started up its previously announced new chlor-alkali plant at its vinyls manufacturing complex at Geismar, LA. The new chlor-alkali plant has the capacity to produce 350,000 electrochemical units (ECUs) annually and utilizes membrane technology. The plant is adjacent to the complex's existing vinyl chloride monomer and polyvinyl chloride facilities and has added about 70 employees at the site.
