Tronox earnings down on weak mineral sands, but pigments improve

Tronox reports a first quarter net loss of $58 million, versus a year-ago loss of $51 million, as improved pigment sales were offset by weaker results in the mineral sands segment. The 51 cent loss per share fell well below the analysts’ consensus estimate of a 27 cent loss per share. Net sales totaled $418 million, down 11% year-over-year....
